Wide PlankEuropean White Oak

European White Oak is at the center of our hardwood flooring collection — chosen for its strength, stability, distinctive grain structure and exceptional versatility in finishing.

Not one particular look

The same species can become a completely different floor depending on how it is selected, cut, constructed, textured and finished.

European White Oak is not one particular look. The appearance of the finished floor changes dramatically depending on the grade, width, length, texture, construction and finishing process.

At Floorika, we offer European White Oak across a broad range of specifications rather than treating it as one standard product. Our collections range from cleaner Select-grade flooring to more expressive Character grades, from smooth surfaces to deeply textured finishes, and from traditional proportions to exceptionally wide and long planks.

“

A beautiful floor is not defined by color alone. It is the combination of the wood, its proportions, its construction, its texture, and the way all of those elements come together in the space.

01 / Engineered Construction

What is beneath the surface matters just as much as what you see.

01

Engineered for wider planks

Most of our wide plank European White Oak collections are engineered. A real European White Oak top layer is bonded to a dimensionally stable engineered core, making wider planks possible while reducing some of the natural expansion and contraction associated with comparable wide solid hardwood flooring.

02

“Engineered” does not define quality

Engineered flooring can vary significantly in the thickness of the real hardwood top layer, the quality and construction of the core, overall board thickness, plank dimensions, grading, milling and finishing. We look at the complete specification rather than evaluating a floor only from the surface.

03

Built with future use in mind

Our European White Oak collections are available with real hardwood top layers ranging approximately from 2MM to 6MM depending on the collection. A more substantial real-wood top layer can also provide greater potential for future sanding and refinishing, depending on the floor and installation.

04

Look beyond the sample

Core construction is equally important. Two European White Oak samples may look remarkably similar from the top while being very different products once you understand how they are actually made.

02 / Widths & Lengths

Proportion shapes the room.

Width and length should always be considered together. The same nominal width can create a completely different finished floor depending on the lengths used across the space.

5”
Approx. starting width
15”
Approx. maximum width

Our collections include plank widths ranging from approximately 5 inches up to 15 inches wide, depending on the collection and manufacturer. Longer boards mean fewer end joints across the floor and can create a more continuous, architectural appearance, particularly in larger rooms and open spaces.

Other collections use mixed lengths to create a different rhythm and character. We offer traditional plank dimensions through extra-wide and extra-long formats, with additional dimensions available through custom production.

Why length matters

A 10-inch plank made primarily in short boards creates a very different finished floor from a 10-inch plank produced with substantial long lengths.

03 / Grades & Natural Character

Choose the amount of nature you want to see.

One grade is not necessarily better than another. The right grade depends on the architecture, plank dimensions, finish and the overall feeling intended for the project.

01

Select & Select & Better

A cleaner and more controlled appearance, with limited knots and less visual variation between boards.

Refined / Controlled
02

Select-Character

More of the natural qualities of the tree remain visible while maintaining a relatively refined overall appearance.

Balanced / Expressive
03

Character

Greater variation, including knots, mineral characteristics, grain movement and natural differences between individual boards.

Natural / Individual

04 / Texture & Surface

Texture changes how the floor receives light.

Our collections include smooth, light wire-brushed and wire-brushed surfaces, along with additional specialty textures depending on the manufacturer.

01

Smooth

Creates a cleaner and more uniform appearance.

02

Light Brushed

Subtly opens the grain and adds depth without making the texture dominant.

03

Wire-Brushed

Emphasizes the grain more noticeably and creates a more tactile surface.

05 / Color & Finish

Color is only one part of the final result.

European White Oak accepts a wide range of finishing techniques, which is one reason it is used so extensively in custom and high-end flooring.

Our showroom includes more than 60 color and finish options across different collections, from very light finishes through warm neutrals, earth tones, medium browns and deeper colors.

Different manufacturers use different staining, reactive, smoking, oiling, brushing and coating techniques. Grain, texture, grade and finish system all contribute to how the floor looks once installed.

Both prefinished and unfinished European White Oak options are available. Custom color development and color matching are also available through selected manufacturers.

06 / Plank, Herringbone & Chevron

One material. Multiple architectural languages.

European White Oak can be produced in straight plank as well as architectural pattern flooring, in multiple dimensions, grades, constructions and finishes.

04

Versailles + Mosaic

For selected projects, plank flooring can be coordinated with Herringbone or Chevron in the same or a complementary finish, allowing pattern flooring to be introduced in selected rooms without changing the overall material language of the project.

07 / Custom European White Oak

Made around the project, not the other way around.

A significant part of our European White Oak offering is made-to-order flooring.

A Personal Approach

It starts with understanding what you are really looking for. A floor can be technically perfect and still be wrong for the space. That is why our process begins with understanding the vision behind the project — how you want the room to feel, what you are drawn to, what you do not want, and how the flooring needs to work with the architecture, cabinetry, stone, lighting and other materials around it.

From there, we narrow the possibilities and help identify the grade, proportion, texture, color and construction that best express that direction. Sometimes the right floor already exists. Sometimes it needs to be sourced. And sometimes we create it specifically for the project. The goal is not simply to choose a beautiful European Oak floor. It is to find the one that feels right in your space.

Tell us about your project, the space, and the flooring you are considering. Our team can help you compare specifications, finishes, dimensions, and custom options.

For the best guidance, include plans, inspiration images, approximate square footage, or any material references you already have.

Bring us a specification, an inspiration image, cabinetry, stone, a finish reference, or simply an idea you have not been able to find yet. We can help translate that direction into the right European Oak floor.

Our trade partners have access to material sourcing, samples, technical specifications, custom colors, unfinished flooring, special dimensions, coordinated plank and pattern formats, and made-to-order production through our manufacturing partners.

We can source alternatives, compare constructions and pricing, develop custom options, review specifications and help resolve flooring details before they become problems on site.

You bring the design intent. We help make the flooring part of it possible.

Visually, I would also like this section to show more clearly what they get by working with us — for example: Material Sourcing, Custom Development, Samples + Specifications, Project Support — but presented in a refined way with material or flooring imagery rather than generic icons.
