The storied estates of the North Shore — restored, refinished, or reborn.
The original Gold Coast residences were built with hardwood floors meant to last centuries — and many of them have. We work with families and their architects on replacements and restorations that hold to the standard the original builders set: wide-plank quarter-sawn oak, traditional patterns, site-finished to match existing millwork.
Our installation crews are familiar with the construction realities of pre-war Long Island estates: post-and-beam framing, plaster walls that won't tolerate mistakes, original molding that needs to be preserved or matched. The work is slower than new construction; we adjust the schedule and the budget to reflect that.

Modern homes deserving modern hardwood — wide-plank, low-sheen, contemporary.
Contemporary builds and gut renovations across central and western Nassau call for a different material vocabulary — wide-plank European oak in long lengths, low-sheen finishes, lighter or rift-sawn tones, and the dimensional stability that radiant heat installations require. Construction as engineered floorboards handles all of it without the seasonal movement solid hardwood would show.
We supply the material and install it across the project site — typically in 5 to 8 days for a full-floor install of 1,500 to 2,500 square feet. Coordination with the GC, the architect, and the radiant heat installer is part of the standard scope.

Mid-century homes, post-war colonials, and the floors that just need refinishing.
Across the post-war communities of central Nassau, most homes still have their original solid hardwood floors — usually 2¼″ oak, plain-sawn, installed in the late 1940s and 1950s. Many of them have only been refinished once or twice in their entire life.
Our refinishing service brings these floors back to the standard the builders set. Dust-control equipment and jobsite protection, custom staining (or restoration to original tone) with samples applied directly on your actual floor for approval in real lighting, and three coats of low-VOC polyurethane. Most jobs are completed in 4 to 6 days, with the home typically livable through the project.

Walkthroughs are typically scheduled the same week we hear from you, with the written estimate following in less than 24 hours.

The selection is broader than what local retailers carry, the standards are higher than what a general contractor can typically source on demand, and the team handling the work does this every day rather than occasionally.
Our model is simple: the project is wherever you need us to be. We come to the site to measure and consult, bring samples for in-context selection in your home’s actual lighting, then deliver and install at the project. So is the post-installation walk-through, the warranty work, and the long-term maintenance — all part of the same engagement.

Our model is private studio visits in Brooklyn, on-site project consultation across all five Manhattan zones, and direct delivery and installation throughout the borough. Floorika works with architects, designers, and developers on the full arc of a flooring project — material selection, technical specification, sourcing, and installation, handled as a single conversation with a single point of contact.
Considerations.
The full project is handled on-site. We come to your property to measure, assess the substrate, and bring samples for in-context selection in your home's actual lighting. The full material library is available for in-home review, and cut samples can be left for take-home consideration against millwork and adjacent materials. Most Nassau projects are completed without the client traveling anywhere.
Yes — for refinishing, single-room replacements, and partial renovations, most clients stay in the home through the project. We coordinate the schedule around occupied rooms. For full-house installs (typically 4–8 days for an average residence), most clients prefer to be away or use a section of the house we've already finished.
Yes — frequently. Estate work has its own considerations: matching original specifications, working around historic millwork and trim, coordination with preservation consultants. Our installation team has done this work for over a decade and adjusts the approach to match the building's standards.
Yes. Wide-plank flooring constructed as engineered is the right specification for radiant — solid hardwood is generally not, due to the moisture and temperature swings. We coordinate with your radiant heat installer and adjust the substrate prep, the adhesive, and the acclimation period to spec. This is standard work in our Nassau new-construction projects.
Walkthroughs are typically scheduled the same week we hear from you. Written estimates follow in less than 24 hours after the walkthrough. Once approved, the install timeline depends on material lead time (1–4 weeks for in-stock; 6–10 weeks for special orders) and our project schedule. For active commissions, expect 6–10 weeks from first call to install start, faster if the material is in stock.
