Three kinds of project,
Most of our work falls into three categories. Each carries its own building constraints, material expectations, and procurement protocols. Click through to see how we approach each.
The original housing stock of New York — restored, refinished, or reborn.
From Park Slope brownstones to Upper East Side classic sixes, pre-war buildings define the New York residential landscape. Each carries its own quirks: lath-and-plaster walls, post-and-beam framing, original floors that may need refinishing or replacement, building bylaws that govern what's allowed in the unit.
Our approach respects the building. We coordinate with co-op boards, building managers, and structural consultants. We acclimate material to the apartment's actual climate before installation. And we work to the level of detail these buildings deserve — site-finished hardwood, custom stains, careful coordination with adjacent millwork.
- Site-finished solid hardwood and engineered European oak
- Color-matching to existing millwork and original floors
- Coordination with co-op / condo boards and building management
- Sound transmission compliance for multi-family buildings
Wide-plank, low-sheen, contemporary specification — built into the project from the start.
New construction and gut renovations call for a different material vocabulary — wide-plank European oak in long lengths, low-sheen finishes, contemporary tones, and the dimensional stability that radiant heat installations require. Engineered construction handles all of it without seasonal movement.
We coordinate with the general contractor, architect, and radiant heat installer from the beginning. The material gets specified into the plans, acclimated on site, and installed on schedule — rather than ordered late and rushed at the end.
- Engineered European oak in 7″–10¼″ widths
- Rated for radiant heat installations
- Glue-down full-bond installation over concrete or plywood
- Schedule coordination with general contractors and project managers
A studio resource for trade specification — not a retail counter.
he trade clients we work with are not browsing. They have a project in motion, a deadline that matters, and a material decision to make. Our showroom is set up around that reality — full-size sample boards, transparent pricing, technical specification support, and a single point of contact who stays with the project from selection to install.
We carry references from working New York architects and designers, and our material library is sized for the way trade clients actually use it: large samples, fast availability, custom finish capability when the project calls for it.
- Direct trade pricing and project-based sampling
- Specification support and full project documentation
- Custom finishes and material sourcing on request
- References from working NYC architects and designers
A different kind of
Manhattan projects expect specification rigor and material consistency that retail showrooms typically cannot deliver. Floorika is built around the way trade clients and serious residential projects actually work.
European-sourced material, custom finish capability.
Wide-plank European white oak, herringbone and chevron, sourced from the mills working architects already trust. Custom stains and color-matching available — applied on site to match millwork, cabinetry, and adjacent material.
One point of contact, specification through install.
From the first showroom conversation through the final coat of finish, one studio team handles the project. No subcontractor handoffs, no separated material and labor scopes, no finger-pointing when something needs to be made right.
A Brooklyn studio delivering Manhattan-level project work without retail overhead.
The Brooklyn studio model means we can deliver high-end Manhattan project work without passing on a Madison Avenue showroom’s rent — the savings get reinvested in material curation, sample programs, and project-level service.
A material library,
European-sourced wood, pattern installations, performance materials for high-moisture rooms, and our own Private Label program — chosen because we believe in them, and stocked for project timelines that don’t wait for special order.

As featured in LUXE Interiors + Design.
Floorika Fine Hardwood was featured in LUXE Interiors + Design — the magazine of record for luxury residential architecture and design across the country’s most significant markets. The Gold List places the studio alongside the architects, designers, and craftspeople defining New York’s high-end residential landscape.
The issue includes a conversation with the founder on material-led specification, the value of curation over breadth, and the studio’s approach to project-based work in a category dominated by retail showrooms.
Manhattan projects deserve specification rigor.
Floorika operates differently. The materials we carry are chosen because we believe in them. The trade relationships we maintain are built on consistent specification standards across years of projects. The installation work is done by an experienced in-house team — craftspeople who treat each project as a single, considered piece of work, not a unit in a production schedule.
For working New York architects and designers, we operate as a project resource — sample programs, specification support, custom finishes, and direct trade pricing. For private clients, we operate the same way: with attention to detail that matches the building.
Across Manhattan, by appointment.
We do not maintain a Manhattan storefront — by design. Our model is private studio visits in Brooklyn, on-site project consultation across all five Manhattan zones, and direct delivery and installation throughout the borough. Project consultations available at the project site for active commissions.
For the Trade.
not a retail showroom.
Floorika works with architects, designers, and developers on the full arc of a flooring project — material selection, technical specification, sourcing, and installation, handled as a single conversation with a single point of contact.
Considerations.
A short conversation, a showroom visit, and a clear path from material to installation.
